Hillary’s Right-Hand Woman

Huma Abedin has long been the traveling aide and body-woman for then-Senator-turned-candidate Clinton and she continues to be an indispensable ally-friend-cohort-adviser for Secretary Clinton at the State Department.

Abedin, who serves as Clinton’s senior adviser in the State Department, was legendary for her ability to guide the former senator and 2008 presidential hopeful through her jampacked days without a wrinkle in her Prada suits or a hair out of place.

She shares an unusually close relationship with Clinton (described as an “older sister-younger sister relationship” by Mary Steenburgen), thanks in part to the pair’s workaholic sensibility. “Abedin has the energy of a woman in her 20s, the confidence of a woman in her 30s, the experience of a woman in her 40s, and the grace of a woman in her 50s,” Clinton wrote in an email to Vogue in July 2007. “She is timeless, her combination of poise, kindness, and intelligence are matchless.”

Not a bad gig if you can get it. But seriously, I’m glad Hillary has her around- Abedin clearly has a lot to offer and there must be tremendous trust and loyalty for them to have worked together for so long.
