Weird Palin/Clinton Story
I came across this story the other day and it struck me as rather strange- Ben Smith of the Politico reported that some rich guy (John Coale) who supported Hillary Clinton in the primaries, suggested Sarah Palin use her PAC to pay down Hillary’s debt. While I am all for finding ways to pay down her debt (except ways that include giving Mark Penn one more dime), the idea strikes me as a bit naive and self-serving on the part of John Coale:
“In an unusual attempt to forge an alliance between two of the most prominent families in American politics, John Coale, a Washington-area Democratic donor and onetime adviser to Sarah Palin, urged the conservative Alaska governor to use her political action committee to help retire the presidential campaign debt of Hillary Clinton.
Coale, a wealthy trial attorney and the husband of Fox News talk show host Greta Van Susteren, approached Palin with the improbable plan in February while in Alaska with his wife, who was taping an interview with the former Republican vice presidential nominee.
An outspoken Clinton supporter during the Democratic primary who switched his allegiance to the GOP ticket for the general election, Coale made his case to Palin at the Iron Dog snowmachine competition in Fairbanks, where Todd Palin was competing over Valentine’s Day weekend. His broader aim, say Palin camp insiders, was to help Palin develop a relationship with the former first family that he thought could bolster the polarizing governor’s standing with Democrats and independents.
Palin was amenable to getting acquainted with the Clintons but was skeptical of using her PAC to help the former first lady.

“He thought the Clintons could rein in some of the Democratic firepower aimed at her,” said a dumbfounded Republican privy to the discussion who advocated fiercely against the idea.
A former Clinton aide hadn’t heard of the plan but deemed it “not rooted in anything that would touch on reality.”[emphasis added]
I tend to agree with that last highlighted bit.
**In the interest of full disclosure, I was not, and am not, a fan of Sarah Palin for this simple reason- given that I am a pro-choice, pro-gay rights, pro-health care reform, pro-separation of Church and State (and a lot of other things) progressive, her politics do not reflect my politics in any way, shape or form. Thus, despite Hillary not winning the democratic nomination, there was no way in the world I could have supported McCain/Palin, no matter how angry or disappointed I was- I do, however, understand that other Hillary supporters feel differently and I respect that and believe there is room for common ground.

SEPARATION OF RAUNCH AND STATE !
(It’s still legal – and always God-honoring – to air messages like the following. See Ezekiel 3:18-19. In light of government backing of raunchy behavior (such offenders were even executed in early America!), maybe the separation we really need is the “separation of raunch and state”!)
In Luke 17 in the New Testament, Jesus said that one of the big “signs” that will happen shortly before His return to earth as Judge will be a repeat of the “days of Lot” (see Genesis 19 for details). So gays are actually helping to fulfill this same worldwide “sign” (and making the Bible even more believable!) and thus hurrying up the return of the Judge! They are accomplishing what many preachers haven’t accomplished! Gays couldn’t have accomplished this by just coming out of closets into bedrooms. Instead, they invented new architecture – you know, closets opening on to Main Streets where little kids would be able to watch naked men having sex with each other at festivals in places like San Francisco (where their underground saint – San Andreas – may soon get a big jolt out of what’s going on over his head!). Thanks, gays, for figuring out how to bring back our resurrected Saviour even quicker!
