Show Support for Aung San Suu Kyi
May 28, 2009
On June 19th, imprisoned Burmese democracy activist, Aung San Suu Kyi, will turn 64 years old. Just last week, an online campaign developed to send 64 words of support to Aung during this difficult time (she is on trial again for violating the terms of her imprisonment). You can add your message, here.
Never underestimate the power of the internet to mobilize people from all walks of life, towards a common goal. Leaving a message of support when someone is facing what seems like insurmountable odds, can make a difference in helping keep hope alive. As Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “It’s better to light a candle than to curse the darkness”.

Thanks for posting this, I hadn’t seen that site. I’m heading over right now…
I hope for the best but I think the Burmese junta have already decided how this is going to end- they want her in custody for the election. Unfortunately, I hear her health is not good.
Paul- Hopefully thousands will show their support for her.
Terri- I am worried about the same thing but perhaps if enough people show their support for Kyi, the Burmese govt could perhaps stop this mockery of a trial, just as the Iranians did with Saberi?
FYI:The group that started the website are also on Twitter and Facebook.
