Thanks, Stacy. CSpan1 will broadcast parts of this at 9 EST. That communicated, I think Bill Clinton should have accompanied his exquisite SOS wife to this dinner. That’s what I think. She is very beautiful and very taken. An event like this is NOT an inappropriate place for the consort of a powerful lady to make an appearance by her side as her escort. We all know she is a social butterfly and can handle this alone, etc. But the other cabinet members and the President are there with their spouses. She should be too – with the very lucky guy who won her!

Not going to spend a lot of time of this but I agree Bill should have showed up. She looked adorable in her pictures from earlier in the day.

He likely had a preexisting commitment. His schedule’s almost as busy as hers, lol.

Damn! I have not gotten a glimpse of her yet!

Terry, no pre-existing commitment overshadows this. He should have escorted her. EVERYONE is there with his/her spouse (except John Kerry – but who cares?). If he is not going to do this, Stacy and I will get tuxedos (in which we will look particularly HOT!) and walk her in the next time. This is unacceptable! He should be with her!

If he’s out of the country on a prearranged trip, it’s a little hard to escort Hillary to a state dinner, lol.

BTW, I’d love to see some pix of her gown.

You and Stacy in male drag at the Secy’s side would be worth a photo.

Hah! Terry! It will be so hot! Serious hotness! Stacy and I are right on the verge of taking her over. It will be awesome!

Still, I agree. I can not imagine why or what that he could not have escorted her. I wonder what is going on. I hope she has a nice Thanksgiving.

On another note maybe cause Richardson was invited. Bill Clinton don’t like him at all. Not that that is an excuse it’s just a thought.

He probably just did what he thought was the honorable thing. Could have been a little akward having a former president there, that beign said I was disappointed Hillary went alone.

I am looking for one too, but unfortuantley she didn’t make an entrance because I beleive she had wait in an area in the white house to do a private reception for the prime minister and his wife and a few other people, the only glimpse I saw was from politico while they were waiting for the toast from the president and she was sitting and I think the toast is the only part the camaras are allowed in on once the dinner starts.

I saw her briefly from afar in Larry King’s coverage of the dinner. She was sitting down but the dress looked black to me. There were a lot of black dresses on the women last night. Something will surface soon. Stacy always finds the best stuff. Mrs. Obama looked stunning.

I don’t always agree with Michelle Obama’s fashion choices, but her gown was beautiful.

I agree that she looked stunning.
However I’m not absolutelly convinced that the dress was appropriate for a state dinner – I think something that would show a little less skin would have been better (don’t get me wrong but michelle does have broad shoulders which make it look like a lot more skin showing).
It is also kinda sad that when she forgets to keep her positure(back upright and shoulders squared) the dress cuts in at the top (left and right of the chest and on the backside.

      - I can’t believe I just wrote that (I’m really not a fashion girl normally)

Unfortunately no pic, but here is a nice quote in this article

    http://www.telegraphindia.com/1091126/jsp/frontpage/story_11788658.jsp

We walk through a magical corridor lit with floating candles and vases of beautiful greenery. It does feel like entering a garden. Inside the tent is a sight to behold —– raw silk cushions in lime green are set off by exquisite floral centrepieces in shades of fuschia and pink —– perfect desi mithai colours.

Speaking of mithai colours, there in the corner in cobalt blue is the secretary of state, Hillary Clinton. She has continued to be a strong advocate for women’s rights, even in her new role where showing such concern could and does often get her labelled as “soft” on the serious security questions. Geeta and I head over to say hello and thank her for continuing her commitment to the cause. I recall our first meeting in Beijing almost 15 years ago and she is quick to remind us that the Platform for Action (an agenda for women’s empowerment) from Beijing remains far from done and that women world-wide need to be more visible and acknowledged for their leadership in bringing much needed change to our world.
