Thanks for the info. Stacy. I was wondering if she would be off this week with the wedding. You’ve partially answered my question. Do you know about the rest of the week since you seem to be tipped off before anyone else is given the State Dept hasn’t even issued her schedule for today yet? Inquiring minds want to know. Unless of course you don’t want to tell us 🙂

Oh, and in answer to your question about Israel in the bottom of your post. Yes, it would seem that Israel needs much hand-holding (either that or they are giving us our marching orders) so it does seem that Clinton has very frequent meetings with Israel. Such a tiny country to take up so much of the U.S. time and money and in return for what? Total disrespect towards this administration, including Secy Clinton. And I say that as a dual citizen.

Steve- quite a few people have contacted me asking about her schedule for the week and even when I have it, I no longer post it because when I did I started getting really weird emails from people- long story. Anyway, I don’t have her schedule for this week and I have a feeling they don’t *want* people to know her schedule for the week. I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that she’ll have at least Thursday and Friday off. At least I hope so. It would be nice if she took more time than that.

Interesting that Secy Clinton is meeting with Ehud Barak today, as you say. Stories being floated concerning an Israeli/US attack on Iran, including the story you reported of the act in Congress to approve such action. Getting the feeling that these stories and actions are a build-up, to make such a military action seem inevitable. Deja vu…

And it would be an unmitigated disaster, IMHO.

“deja vu”- you’ve got that right! Do we ever learn? The exact same people who were so wrong about Iraq are now pushing a new war.

Professor Juan Cole lays out a very credible scenario regarding how disastrous a US or Israeli attack on Iran would be:

      http://www.juancole.com/2010/07/repubs-plot-israel-iran-apocalypse-and-the-collapse-of-the-us-economy.html

Since 1996 Israel and neocons in the U.S. have been saying Iran is “two years away from a fully functional nuclear weapon.” Yeah, ok. It’s now 2010 and Leon Panetta said the same thing a couple of weeks ago. God forbid the media asked these folks about that by doing, you know, actual journalism. But the sad fact is, the so-called “liberal elite media” may be ok with gay marriage and other progressive social issues but when it comes to foreign policy, they are as hawkish as you can get. They’ve been cheering for a confrontation with Iran in their Op-Ed pages for months. The NYT and the WSJ are probably the worst in that regard, but the WaPo comes in a close third.

If we were to end up in a war with Iran (and I’m not really sure that will happen), then we should institute a draft and all these chicken-hawks can put their money where their mouth is. They seem to love getting us into wars so long as other people fight and die in them.
