Sneak Peak at Secretary Clinton’s Upcoming Schedule for Next Week

I can’t post her whole schedule for the week because I think they like to keep the specifics under wraps, perhaps for security reasons. But I can post a few non-specific highlights:
~Secretary Clinton has no public appointments until next Thursday (good for her but bad for us 
). Of course that doesn’t mean she won’t be working- her job is a 24/7 one and she is always available for back door diplomacy and problem-solving.
~Take Your Child to Work Day at the State Dept.
~Meetings, Meetings, Meetings
~And this should start the rumor-mill churning overtime- a meeting with MP David Miliband.

Well I know there are a lot of Hillary-David Miliband shippers out there and the media love to gossip about the two of them, so the meeting between them may get tongues wagging again.

I like Miliband but I never thought there was anything more than genuine friendship and respect between the two of them. They’ve known each other for quite a while I believe. Also, there isn’t really isn’t any foreign minister that Hillary isn’t nice to. I think that Stacy was the one who said that if anyone had a crush on Miliband it was the Vanity Fair reporter who was talking to Hillary about him
stacy is right. hillary never actually said she had a crush on him. the media got that a bit wrong, lol.

“So who made the cut and who didn’t? Well, President Obama and the First Lady were not invited. This might be a little odd, some have pointed out, since First Ladies have, in the past, attended. Nancy Reagan went to Diana’s wedding to represent the US, while Hillary Clinton attended Diana’s funeral. Other sources are also reporting that Sir Paul McCartney made the final cut — as did rapper Kanye West. Other heads of state that were supposedly snubbed include the French President, Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife, singer and former model, Carla Bruni.”
I heard someone report that they were not inviting heads of state because a) it would get out of control with all the security and once you invite some heads of state you have to invite others and b) because William is second in line to the throne the wedding will not be treated the same way as Charles (who is first in line) and Diana’s in terms of it being more of a formal State affair. In other words, nations aren’t going to be represented.
William and Kate seem to have wanted to avoid it becoming a political thing. They’ve gone out of their way to invite hundreds of volunteers who work at their charities, which is nice. I don’t think Obama and Michelle were snubbed at all- again, if they start inviting multiple heads of state it turns into even more of a security nightmare and then they have to invite lots of heads of state so nobody feels left out. It would seem more important to invite leaders of countries that have historical ties to the UK, but I’m not sure if they are doing that.
I’ll admit I’m trying to avoid some of the wedding coverage but it’s hard. I tend to take the view as expressed in the movie “Four Weddings and a Funeral”:
