Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to Celebrate LGBT Pride Month on June 27th
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will deliver remarks on “The Human Rights of LGBT People and U.S. Foreign Policy” at an event co-hosted by the State Department and Gays and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs Agencies (GLIFAA), on Monday, June 27 at approximately 10:25 a.m., in the Dean Acheson Auditorium at the Department of State.
Preceding the Secretary’s remarks, Under Secretary Maria Otero will lead a panel discussion with senior U.S. Government Officials at 9:30 a.m. The discussion topics will include the status of LGBT people around the world and how the U.S. Government can promote the protection of their human rights.
The event is part of a series of LGBT Pride Month celebrations at the U.S. Department of State.

Can we hope that Secretary Clinton knows about the disgraceful events in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Saturday when the city authorities banned Slavic Pride and arrested 14 participants. The constitution of the Russian Federation guarantees citizens freed of assembly, but in this case, aparantly not to LGBT citizens.
Hillary MUST speak up for gay rights in Russia especially after the bashing of St. Petersburg Gay Pride yesterday in Russia. The Pride was banned like any Pride are banned in Russia since 2006 despite Court decisions saying that they should be allowed. Russian authorities keep banning Gay Prides in Moscow and St Petersburg and regularly arresting participants. Hillary must speak ! We want Hillary.
Hadn’t heard about that — that’s awful.
I hope she does say something.
Meanwhile, here in New York, 42 years after Stonewall, our state has become just the 6th state in the US to legalize gay marriage (plus the District of Columbia). Hooray! Only 44 to go. The wheelsof Mercy grind slowly.
