Secretary Clinton to Deliver Speech on Development in the 21st Century

January 5, 2010

From the State Department:

Secretary Clinton to Deliver Remarks on “Development in the 21st Century”

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will deliver remarks on “Development in the 21st Century” tomorrow, Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, in Washington, D.C.

Secretary Clinton will outline how she plans to elevate and strengthen development as one of the three pillars of the nation’s foreign policy: defense, diplomacy, and development.

Nancy Birdsall, President of the Center for Global Development, will introduce Secretary Clinton.

And this came from No Limits:

Hillary will speak about women’s health, and what we can do to reduce maternal mortality and save women’s lives this Friday, January 8th. Her speech marks the 15th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development, which adopted international goals for increased access to education, especially for girls; reductions in infant, child and maternal mortality; and support for reproductive health care. What are we doing to reach these goals – and what more can be done?

Watch Hillary’s speech live from the State Department at about 2:30 pm EST on Friday! It will be streamed live or posted afterwards here.

Rachel- thanks! Now I just have to remember that and put up a post around the 25th or so to remind people about it. Also, we should keep an eye out for any information regarding the upcoming NatGeo special about her- I posted about that over the weekend. If I remember correctly the article had said that perhaps by the end of this week the show’s website would be up and running and then hopefully we can get more information about it. I’m psyched, both shows should be excellent.

I really think there is a lot of interest in what goes on behind the scenes with Secretary Clinton’s work, travel, etc. Still4Hill and I have been lamenting the lack of that type of information and also the State Department’s lack of involvement with American bloggers who focus on foreign policy and her work at the State Dept.
