Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Photo Bomb: The Post-Vacation Edition

August 29, 2010

This photo bomb is kindly dedicated to Still4Hill because some of the photos remind me of her. Rumors of a rift among Hillary blogs have been greatly exaggerated.

For your viewing pleasure:

And on a more personal note, two photos from my trip to the Canadian Rockies:

Athabasca Glacier

Lake Louise

And no photo bomb would be complete without:

This is the reception I got when I arrived home from vacation

OMFG- you have truly outdone yourself. I have to say this was worth the wait. I have no idea where you found some of these photos but good on ‘ya! This is by far your most amazing photo bomb to date!

BTW, you have some whackos responding to your posts on Facebook- what kills me is that many of them are supposedly Hillary supporters but they sound a lot more like Palin/Glenn Beck supporters. Strange.

HF- Yes, I know. I rarely check my Facebook account for that reason. I still copy my posts to Facebook (through the blog’s “share this” feature) but that is only because I can do it without actually having to physically go to Facebook. I went to Facebook today for the first time in weeks and was immediately sorry I had done so. I made the mistake of responding to someone who is very angry about my tolerant views of Islam and to be quite honest, I’m sick of explaining myself. I’m very close to getting rid of the Secretary Clinton Blog account there because I’m also sick of the pettiness and hostility- it’s so 2008. I don’t know why people can’t just debate things without getting all nasty and mean. It just reinforces my general view that there is a very dangerous social climate afoot right now- people are afraid, angry and looking for scapegoats.

Awesome….thank you Stacy, especially for the picture with the reverse mirror image. Breathtaking! Lake Louise looks like Crystal Lake in Oregon. That blue is amazing. Welcome home.

Thank you, Stacy. How nice of you! Hope your vacation was fun and restful. The kitties must be happy yo have you back! Great pictures. Love the ones from Copenhagen that I had not seen before.

OT- what the hell is going on with our Sudan policy? The carrots and carrots approach hasn’t worked, and in fact, it may have made matters worse. Bashir is traveling all over the place and if we really wanted him to stand trial at the ICC we’d have his ass hauled off there, but we seem utterly unwilling to spend any of our diplomatic capital to do so. I seem to remember during the 2008 election, there was a lot of tough talk about Sudan from both Democratic candidates (as there was about China etc.) and now we seem more than happy to make sure that countries like China and Sudan know that there will be zero consequences for their reprehensible human rights violations.

Nick Kristoff, who has tremendous credibility when it comes to coverage of human rights atrocities:

I’m sick of this administration spending all their time tilting at windmills visa vi Iran. Time to throw our weight behind reigning in Bashir. How many times is the US going to give other nations a pass for genocide? Hmmmmm?

Wonderful photo bomb! Thank you so much stacy! So many Hillary photos I hadn’t seen. Your vacation photos are wonderful also.

I was over at Wonkette and saw this and thought of you Stacy:

    Wonkette is too funny.

I like that photo of Hills- the closeup side shot. Very nice.

Hey Stace- I know you are a big Elizabeth Warren fan and this was just posted on YouTube- it’s part 1 of a great interview:

    • August 29, 2010 11:00 pm

I was hoping past hope that she would NOT be his nominee for SCOTUS, and I am FINE with Elena Kagan! Yes! Why he is not moving on nominating her for Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection baffles me. She was BORN for this. This administration, on certain fronts, moves like a glacier. Oh! Excuse me! GLACIERS move faster, thanks to global warming.

      • August 30, 2010 5:08 am

There is no reason in the world not to pick Warren. None. The banks don’t like her- boo hoo. We bailed out the banks, they need oversight. Timmy Geithner and Larry Summers don’t like her. Boo hoo. They didn’t like Brooksly Borne either and look where that got us.

Whoa! I thought just the link would show up, not the whole video! Sorrry ’bout that.

    • August 29, 2010 3:30 pm

No problem Thain. Not sure why the whole video shows up, kinda weird.

I hadn’t seen that interview so I am going to watch it now. And yes, I luuuuurve Elizabeth Warren! I’m kind of a sucker for really, really, really smart women who are, uh, older ;). I could listen to her talk about economics and medical bankruptcy all day! Yup, I’m a thrill a minute!

If Obama doesn’t nominate her to the CFPA I’m not voting for him in 2012- you heard it here first. There are some things I just can’t accept. The only reason to NOT nominate Warren, who first thought up the CFPA, is if he is worried about upsetting the banks and that is UNACCEPTABLE!

Hey, I’ve been thinking ever since I saw that comment over at Madame Secretary at saying that they wished Stacy would take over that site or at least have some role. I think Stacy should be writing over there since Preeti doesn’t seem to really have the time. If you think so too email them. I just did:

ps. hope you don’t mind stacy!

I have been following this blog for some time now but I am not much for commenting on blogs but I have to say, I enjoy the commentary even if I don’t always agree. Unlike some on the left you support your arguments with links and facts- too bad most liberals on TV and in the blogosphere don’t follow suit. If Hillary ran for office again, she’d do well to have you in her corner trying to win more progressives now that it has become clear that Obama is a fraud.

Part of the problem is that unlike the GOP, the Democrats hate their base and use us only when around election time- we get to lick the stamps and go door to door but once in office, liberal becomes a bad word. It doesn’t help that the media perpetuates that twisted logic.

Never mind that liberals have pretty much been right about most of the vexing issues we are confronting- we opposed the Iraq War not because we believed all war is wrong, but because the link between Saddam and 9/11 was nonexistent and it was merely a realization of the neocon wet dream to remake the map of the Middle East in the hopes of providing protection for Israel (while allowing the US to control a larger portion of the world’s oil supply). Of course, the Iraq War made everyone less safe and empowered Iran and who are the people running around whining about how powerful and dangerous Iran is- all the numb nuts who helped empower them in the first place because they don’t know the fucking difference between an Arab, a Persian and a Shia.

Oh, and the COIN strategy in Afghanistan? Yeah, whatever. We opposed the surge because you can add 40,000 or 100,000 troops and it doesn’t matter when there are only about 50 Al Qaida (by the governments own admission) because they all hauled ass over to Pakistan. If we continue to have to work with a corrupt, drug addicted Afghan President, we might as well take 5 trillion dollars and burn it on the national mall because that’s about what we are getting for our money.

Oh, and the deregulation of the financial industry? Thanks a lot conservatives and Blue Dogs. We opposed that too, but don’t mind us, we’re just stupid fucking socialist libruls.

I always love your photo bombs and also always rush to the bottom to see new photos of Notch and Scooter. This is in no way, however, a reflection of any disaffection for Hillary.

I just ran across this passage, you might find interesting, in a biography I am reading about Patricia Highsmith:

[In her 1988 Novel, A Far Cry from Kensington, Muriel Spark has the narrator explain the importance of a companion cat to a writer. The passage sounds very much like the description she provided of the cat she inherited from Patricia Highsmith. “For concentration you need a cat….And the tranquility of the cat will gradually come to affect you, sitting there at your desk, so that all the excitable qualities that impede your concentration compose themselves and give you back the self-command it has lost. You need not watch the cat all the time. Its presence is enough.”]

I hope YOU don’t have a Hillary blog. If you do, you are an embarrassment to a wonderful strong woman.

Stacy doesn’t need to compete with or write for anyone else’s blog, imo. Keep up the great work Stacy and thanks again.

I don’t think there will be too much info. available about the discussions that take place during the negotiations (Israeli-Palestinian) other than through leaks. I have a feeling things will be very tight-lipped but hopefully we’ll get some info.
