SOS Hillary Clinton Interview Tomorrow on ‘This Week with Christiane Amanpour’

September 18, 2010

This is just a reminder. The interview was filmed in Jerusalem and I posted a clip from it in one of the posts below. Here is Amanpour’s website– check your local listings for times.

Also interesting is that Amanpour will be interviewing Iranian President Ahmadinejad, who is in New York for the UN General Assembly next week. I really like Amanpour- I think she’s a first class journalist and she doesn’t pander to the special interest commentators who want her to just spout the party line. She will probably get a lot of heat for interviewing the Iranian President, but that’s what good journalists do– they interview world leaders irrespective of whether or not they are controversial. There will be those who say she is giving the nutty Iranian leader a soap box to spout his nonsense, but the fact is, he’s a major world leader and again, this is good journalism. There will also be the non-too-veiled whispers about Amanpour’s biases because she happens to have been born in Iran. This will come from the same people who tried to lobby to prevent her from getting the job at ABC to begin with because they questioned her “pro-Israel” bona fides. Apparently being a good, even-handed journalist who happens to be of Persian descent makes one “anti-Israel” by birth. Amanpour can be a tough, but fair, interviewer. Some people don’t like that. I think we have a responsibility to demand it.

It looks like both interviews are going to be excellent.

Thanks for the reminder! I like Amanpour too. What’s interesting about Ahmadinejad is that when he gives an interview he doesn’t sound crazy except he has that weird smile which is somewhat annoying.

    Amanpour rocks.

Fox News is a joke. They have a right to be nothing but GOP/Tea Party hacks but can anyone start a news channel and call it news even if it’s really just a 24 hour GOP infomercial? I mean it’s one big campaign commercial. Are there rules about that?

All the Hillary supporters who think Fox News is the bestest newsy channel ever (Hillbuzz) are just whistling past the graveyard as far as I’m concerned. I know I’ll get crap for saying that but that’s what I think. No Quarter can get bad too sometimes.
