Secretary of State Clinton’s Interview with Christiane Amanpour

February 20, 2011

I can’t tell if this is the whole interview. The first video is a little over 7 minutes and then the second video is very short and has Secretary Clinton discussing Israeli settlements. If this isn’t the whole interview, I’ll update this post when it’s available.

Thanks for posting. I didn’t watch it when it aired. It’s strange that it’s in two parts. I went on YouTube and all ABC has is the part 1 up. That bit about settlements doesn’t seem to be part of the main interview.

Not to be nitpicky but saying the settlements are illegitimate is sort of dumb. Who cares if they are illegitimate? What matters is if they are illegal, which they are. I love Hillary but I hate watching her play these word games- everyone knows what’s really going on. Given what went down at the UN I’m sort of surprised Amanpour didn’t ask more questions about it unless there is more to the interview that I haven’t seen.

This is why your friend Hillary can’t do anything about settlements or Israel’s policies (even if she wanted to which I don’t think she does):

So, who controls US foreign policy? Which group of people? Their pandering is a disgrace. The whole NY delegation should just go join the Knesset and leave the United States Congress to people who want to pursue AMERICAN interests and not those of their biblical homeland.

The Palestinians will never be free so long as these jerks are in charge. It’s why the US and Israel refused to agree to all the Palestinian concessions in the Palestine Papers…because this administration KNOWS the Jewish community will never let them give up East Jerusalem. It’s all a farce, all a game. We’re buying time for Israel to gobble up land so soon it won’t even be an issue and the Palestinians will get some loosely defined, separated pieces of land with limited sovereignty, connected by Arab-only roads and barbed wire. And we’ll tell them they are damn lucky to have it!

Gee, Congressman Nadler, you call yourself a New Yorker? In New York, if we have to travel in more “dangerous” neighborhoods — and we’re contending with knives and stray bullets, not stones
      — we travel in pairs or groups, keep our eyes open, and don’t do anything stupid or provocative. Goes with the territory.
Maybe you should start by telling the Mayor of Jerusalem to stop being stupid and provocative.

Here is an interesting editorial above from the Jerusalem Post.

And, Stacy, I hope you will continue your blog. We count on it in these days of amazing news stories. It’s ironic Obama campaigned on “hope and change” and ever since has seemed to hope everyone would forget that theme. What will his 2012 theme be?

Now, people throughout the ME are fighting for real hope and change. Gaddafi’s son was just on air in Libya. I’m beginning to think all dictators must be delusional. They certainly sound that way when threatened 🙂
