Btw- I wish the state Dept. would step up to the plate and issue a statement about the unarmed American shot by Israeli soldiers- he’s paralyzed now. It’s too bad he wasn’t shot by a Syrian or Iranian bullet b/c then maybe our govt would give a sh*t. The media would be all over it. sadly it was an Israeli bullet so of course it’s ok
How much is an American life worth? Well he was of Palestinian ancestry so I guess not much.

How do some people live with themselves?

That’s not good. The State Dept. and US embassy have a responsibility to support and look out for the interests of US citizens abroad. There job is not to politically protect Israel from criticism when it comes to the injury/death/wellbeing of US citizens.

9:30 a.m. Secretary Clinton meets with Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice, at the Department of State, to discuss US decision to abstain on September UN vote supporting Palestinian statehood.

    Just dreamin’…. 🙂

Yeah, you are dreaming. More likely their agenda includes figuring out a way to prevent the Palestinians from declaring statehood at the UN, figuring out a way to prevent the international flotilla from heading to Gaza in a few weeks and putting the final nail in the coffin of Goldstone.

I guess when you are Israel you can come to the US, totally humiliate the POTUS, triangulate Congress and undermine US national security and you get rewarded for it by having the US Secretary of State and Ambassador to the UN spend endless time, money and effort helping you out.

Seriously, the State Dept. press briefing the other day said Clinton was calling NGOs to get them to cancel the Flotilla- wtf? As was said in the comments here the other day, why is that Hillary’s problem? Did it ever occur to the Israelis or our fawning, sycophants in Congress that perhaps Israel is responsible for some of the world’s reaction to them?

I’m going to come back with a video you have to watch. It’s really heart-warming. Not.

Here it is- a bunch of Israelis screaming “death to Arabs” on “Reunion of Jerusalem Day” on 6/1/2011. I seem to recall Secretary Clinton and the State Dept. getting all whipped up whenever the Palestinians do or say something provocative. I also seem to remember pretty much everyone in the govt and media talking about how hateful Iran is because they say stupid, hateful things. Funny stuff like this never gets any coverage in the media or never gets denounced by the State Dept. as provocative.

Where is Ethan Bronner? Do you think he doesn’t report on this stuff because he’s a Jewish American-Israeli with a son in the IDF who lives in occupied E. Jerusalem in a house stolen from a Palestinian family?

    Just wondering.

Thanks Thain. I posted that over at TM and I’m having Micah double check the Hebrew translation just so we know for sure that it accurately transcribes what they are saying/singing. I don’t want to misrepresent them.

You are right- this is a good example of the type of thing the media selectively ignores so that their Israeli narrative isn’t disrupted. And yet when the Palestinians hold a rally that is deemed offensive to Israelis or they do something else like that, the State Dept. is all over it as is the media.

I honestly don’t understand how people are so blindly accepting of this media bias. The only thing I can think of is that a) they too are biased, b) they don’t know enough to know how one-sided the coverage is or c) they just don’t care.

I think you commented about Friedman’s ridiculous opinion piece the other day where he implies there is no nonviolent Palestinian movement. I double-checked with someone who I know who was trying to get an opinion piece or letter published in the NYT to rebut Friedman’s piece and the NYT is refusing to run it. It is just flagrant, unapologetic anti-Palestinian bias. I’d call it pro-Israel bias but honestly I don’t think rubber stamping Israeli govt propaganda is really doing Israelis any favor- all it’s doing is helping to ensure they drive off that cliff that is rapidly approaching.

I guess this is one of those gender-specific events – violence-loving guys only.
