Oh for goodness sake what is this a serious blog or Hello magazine – the whole David and Hillary thing is based upon a misquote anyway, she never said she had a crush on him, that was the interviewer. Hillary said he was ‘intellegent, vibrant and smart’ the same sort of comments she has made about other foreign ministers she has met because she is a smart diplomat who knows how to use her personal charisma to influence people and play up to the national press. The ‘special relationship’ especially calls for such play acting but she certainly wasn’t slow to ignore or slap down Miliband when he disagreed with her e.g over the release of Guantanomo to Bermuda. Get over it folks Miliband has gone and I suspect Hillary will be concentrating more on establishing good relationships with his sucessor than losing sleep over him.

Well, gee, thanks Pondskipper. I did this photo bomb because people had ASKED for me to do one last one with photos of DM. Try to have a sense of HUMOR about it. Whenever the issue of DM has come up I have repeatedly said that the whole Hillary-Miliband think was overplayed and that it was actually the guy from Vogue who seemed to have the crush.

If this blog is too “Hello Magazine” for you, feel free to go somewhere more serious. As it is, when I try to bring up “serious” topics like Mideast Peace or Chinese human rights I usually end up talking to myself.

It’s funny because for the past week I have been thinking about closing down this blog and comments like yours make me wonder at times why I spend so much time doing this, other than the obvious reason, which is that I truly respect Secretary of State Clinton.

No, no, no, no, no, no! Stacy, do not shut down this blog, don’t listen to condescending critiques from people who perhaps didn’t realize we specifically asked you for this photo bomb.

98% of the time you do serious topics and then the other 2% is fun stuff people also enjoy. You ALWAYS go out of your way to do whatever we ask regarding photos, videos, links and polls and I think I can speak for about 99% of your readers when I say we APPRECIATE it!

I also know you’d like to cover more serious topics and I understand how you feel when you say that a lot of times people don’t chime in the discussion. In other words, you’re getting mixed signals but remember, you can’t keep everyone happy all the time and if people don’t appreciate what you do, then as you said, no one is forcing them to come here.

Jeez, talk about a total buzzkill. We had asked Stacy to do this for us and she was nice enough to do it even though in the past she has said that the media coverage of Hillary and David Miliband was rather silly.

Do things have to be 100% serious all the time? Do you think Hillary is 100% serious all the time or do you think when she meets with David Miliband and now Mr. Hague, she also tries to have a little fun while ALSO being very serious at times.

Wow. That was a bit harsh.

I’ll vouch for Stacy’s attempts to get serious foreign policy discussions started. I also recall reading a post last week where people in the comments to some post asked her to do a photo bomb with Hillary and Miliband.

If you don’t like the subject of the photo bomb, that’s cool but do you have to be so demeaning to the person who day after day after day posts videos and transcripts of everything the SOS is doing?

I like the Mideast discussions here. Not many people in the US seem to take the time to understand the issue from the perspective of those of us who live it every day. I join with Steve in saying I hope you don’t close the blog. I don’t know why you were thinking of doing so but there are some of us who appreciate your independent-minded commentary. That’s actually why I first came to this site. I would not describe myself as a fan of your Secretary but I’m more willing to keep an open mind as a result of some of what I have read here.

Nice photo bomb. There is a lot of serious topics that are discussed here, as most who are frequent visitors here know. I try to chip in on the serious stuff, but I am no expert, and actually compared to most of the blogs out there who really only allow their point of view this is a very informative blog that allows people to contribute their opinons whatever they maybe. This blog has most of the secretary’s appointments, schedule and speeches before, cnn’s website, or even the state departments website.

I try to comment on the more serious stuff, but I’m just not as knowledgeable as most and I keep silent to keep from looking stupid. I do like it, though, and learn a lot from it.

      You do great work, Stacy!

    Pondskipper

If you want to attack anyone, attack me because I was the 1st to ask. This blog has better information on forgein policy not only by stacy but the people who comment here. Everything hillary does is serious, she needs to have fun too and she seemed to have fun when she is with miliband. I may not comment on all the serious stuff, but I do learn a lot from this blog.

Stacy, I am sorry for causing you this aggravation on this photobomb. I enjoy this blog and do not want you to close it so I will go back to lurking, because I do not want posters like pondskipper to attack you fo no reason.

Thanks again for this photobomb and blog.

    • May 16, 2010 12:40 pm

jillforhill- please do not go back to lurking and you don’t have to apologize for anything, you have not caused me ANY aggravation at all. I have always asked for people to let me know when they want me to do something particular on the blog and I had absolutely no problem doing this Hillary-Miliband photo bomb. It was kinda fun looking for all the photos actually. If I hadn’t wanted to do it, I wouldn’t have.

I will continue to take requests for things people would like to see whether it be in regards to photos, polls, news stories, videos or anything else. Pondskipper’s comment just struck me as a tad condescending on a day when I’m not having the best of days. I try to have a mix of serious topics with some lighter ones and I am an avid follower of foreign policy news/issues so to be compared to “Hello” magazine is kind of insulting. My comment about closing the blog was not because of Pondskipper’s comment, but rather the comment just added to my frustration that I feel at times because while I know a lot of people visit this blog daily and it’s grown a great deal since the beginning (because I track the stats), most people lurk and at times its hard to get discussions going.

Please don’t close this blog. While I don’t always feel I have much to contribute because I’m busy or I might not know much about a foreign policy topic you bring up, I really appreciate the effort you put in to this and your very up-to-date coverage of Secretary Clinton’s work.

I’m a Hillary ultra devoted fan,and it was great to discover this site, that is pro-hillary( eventhough you’re always fair and moderate about her); the web and the media is full of Hillary-haters that is so refreshing and motivating to come here and read about all the admiration and love most of us here have x hillary. Please don’t close this blog, along with STILL4HILL, HILLARYVILLAGERS, CAPITOL HILL and a few others, you have most information than the State Department site has.As for Hillary and Miliband, is great to see Hillary enjoying her job between all these man who admire and love her! What’s wrong with that?Beside being tha most intelligent woman in the world, beautiful, stong and tough, She’s very warm and very funny, we love seeing her being happy!Keep up the good work because we visit this site several times a day and we’re always waiting the sunday P.B. , WAY TO GO GIRL!

I just didn’t want to cause any problems.

To me the photbombs are just as important as the articles and transcripts, because you can say and repeat something over and over but you body language and facial expressions can say a lot more or the truth. Hillary tells you how she feels when she talks, but so does her body language and facial expressions.

I haven’t contributed much lately but that’s only because I’ve been mad busy — I still check in often and always find your mind an interesting one to follow. What would we do without the Sunday bomb?

  16. May 16, 2010 3:52 pm

Oh my goodness! How many times have Stacy and I had to pull up that Jonathan Van Meter paragraph from December Vogue?

Hillary never said she had a crush on David. We have both said that all along. Now it starts all over again with this misleading header based on NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER from Richard Adams at the Guardian.

    William Hague enchants Hillary Clinton

So don’t even think about getting that one started. She is not “enchanted” with William Jefferson Hague. God Almighty! Let the woman work!

Wow I seem to have tossed a granade into the room here. Firstly let me say that my comment about Hello magazine was tongue in cheek and I apologise stacyx for offending you with it. I love your photo bombs and religiously look them up on Sundays so will also be very disappointed if you stop doing them. Producing blogs like this must be a lot of work and I admire those who spend their time putting together information for others to enjoy. I can also see why getting responses and feedback in response to your hard work is important and why it must be disheartening when this does not happen. But you know, the problem about comments is they don’t always say what you want them to and whereas many of your blog readers obviously love the whole Hillary/David fantasy thing I personally don’t and so commented as such. My criticism was aimed at the media echo chamber that creates these sort of stories in the first place not at you and I’m sorry if it read that way.

Poundskipper, I think you are overseas so I really value your unique point of view. If you not across the pond, please correct me. I took your response in the way you intended it and sure hope Stacy ultimately understood it that way.

Now nobody appreciates Stacy more than those who follow this blog. And some of us take issue with her from time to time, but Stacy has been steadfastly civil with us and allows us to have our point of view, with very few exceptions. I’ve never seen her shut down a really good debate.

Some of us practically live for the blog every day but we have to consider whether in her busy personal and professional life Stacy has the time or the energy to drag this millstone around with her day after day, month after month and now year after year. It may be just too much for her to carry. Wish there was some way we could find to compensate her for her time and trouble. Most bloggers get some compensation through online links or banner ads but I think Stacy is staying away from that. I would really love to see her commenting on Hillary news as an I-reporter where her terrific knowledge of the SOS and foreign policy could get a broader audience.

P.S. Hillary is absolutely gorgeous in white in that third and forth photo. That has got to be one of my favorites now.

Stacy, We all come here to read your comments and learn. I sometimes do not reply cause I too feel stupid. But gee I sure have learned a great deal here. Your blog has made a great difference to many of us I am sure. I so appreciate all that you do. Please keep this blog going. The Secretary has only just begun her journey and she has so much more to do before her tenure ends.
So once again a plea from all of us not to close this blog. We need your input badly. The news media sure does not give us much about the Secretarys coming and goings.
We are all friends here who have a common interest. We laugh and sometimes we get angry. But please know, that you matter to us. Thanks you so much.

Well thank you for all the support, I really wasn’t fishing for compliments just voicing a frustration I probably should have kept to myself.

Pondskipper- I am sorry if I misread your comment , it’s hard to tell when people are joking or being serious in a comment other than if they use emoticons and I didn’t see anything in the comment that would signal it wasn’t serious. But again, I’m sorry.

Terry- I don’t expect any sort of compensation for the blog and never really wanted to get into banner ads and the like. I do the blog because I enjoy it and like the subject matter but every once in a while there are minor frustrations along the way, which as I said, I probably should have not aired so as to prevent misunderstandings.

Again everybody, thanks for all the support, it’s much appreciated.

    Hi Terry
Yes you are right I’m in the UK. I read this blog every day but don’t post often because as a Brit it feels a bit cheekycommentating on the foreign policies or politicians of another country. Its like walking into a neighbour’s house and criticising their wallpaper or grandmother’s hat. Also we Brits have been less than brilliant in this area *cough* Milibrand *cough*. But as you say Stacy deserves our thanks and support for this blog so I will try to take part more often (although hopefully less contentiously).
